Daimler unveils latest electric truck offerings, including semi

Jun 21, 2023

Daimler Truck, one of the world’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturers, has this week unveiled its latest electric truck offerings, including a prototype of a long haul semi-trailers and the next generation eCanter with a roll-off tipper.

The eActros LongHaul was first unveiled by parent company Mercedes-Benz at the IAA Transportation event in Hannover in September, and has now upgraded the offering with electric power take off for various types of trailers, including tipping semi-trailers or walking floor trailers.

The series production eActros LongHaul will also offer a range of around 500 kilometres on a single battery charge and will be capable of megawatt charging.

“Versatile, robust and powerful trucks are in demand here,” said Karin Rådström, the CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks. “It is also a very complex area for electrification due to the wide variety of applications. Partnerships between vehicle manufacturers and bodybuilders are therefore crucial to offer our customers the right solutions.”

Separately, another Daimler Truck brand, Fuso, unveiled the next generation eCanter, which will – for the first time – be equipped with a roll-off tipper.

The Next Generation eCanter has a chassis load capacity of 5,135 kg and a payload of 3,635kg.
